A kissing booth hits different in these trying times. Sequels can be hit or miss sometimes - but a second round of The Kissing Booth with even MORE miscommunication with the typical rom-com silliness always is a hit with me. The second Kissing Booth movie picks up a little bit where we left off the first time. Elle just had the most romantic summer with Noah before he went to Harvard. They now have the new obstacle of trying to sustain a long-distance relationship on top of Elle trying to figure out her future. While juggling where to go to college and a mysterious new cute kid in school, Elle will have to figure out how far her trust goes and where her heart lies. I will, once again, start off this review with how this is not the world's greatest rom-com. With that said, the sequel was a massive improvement from the first one, in my honest opinion. Since I didn't come to be wowed like last time, I'm just going to judge the romance on that aspect alone. Joey King once again shines at the protagonist as Elle. Now that we know her and we've gotten a feel for her, it feels like King is confident in her styling of Elle. I could feel Elle's emotions even more because I was able to connect with her better in this movie. Her acting made the cheesy plot feel relatable and incredibly real. Her chemistry with Joel Courtney as her best friend is still heart-warming to see. We all deserve a friend like that. Also, once again, her romantic chemistry with Jacob Elordi was off the charts good. I think what majorly improved in this movie was the challenges that faced Elle and Noah were more real and not superficial. The intrigue of forbidden romance was eye-catching the first go-round, I can't lie. The trying times of a long-distance romance with new characters who seem to shake our two lovers to their core make it. I knew what would happen in the end, but that didn't mean I wasn't loving the dramatic journey along the way! We already have confirmation of a third movie on our way. With how things ended, maybe we'll finally learn what or who is in Elle's future.
Will the kissing booth make an appearance a third time around? Guess we'll have to wait and see!
