Oh, Roses, is there no place like home? After the way this series started off with a bang, I knew I had to figure out whether the Roses ever got out of Schitt's Creek. (Spoiler: they don't.) Season two begins with the Roses needing to find David. The idea that they might have to be in this town longer than expected after its potential sale fell through has hit the Roses hard in different ways. Johnny is still determined to find a way for his family to get out of there. Meanwhile, Moira decides to bring up the level of class to the townspeople and run for a position on the town's council. David and Alexis have now reached a point where they must do the unthinkable: find jobs. Either way, the Roses must find ways to adapt to each other and the town for a little while longer. I really thought that this show couldn't get better after its first season. (Well, I hoped it would, but that sophomore slump can be real folks!) I was so proven wrong. The Roses stay in Schitt's Creek has been prolonged by fate. They're still there, and I get to reap the rewards of such chaos. Once again, every cast member and their acting counterpoint was brilliant. Levy and O'Hara's chemistry as bumbling husband and melodramatic former soap opera star wife was still as great as ever. Younger Levy and Murphy played off their dysfunctional family dynamics well as their spoiled, out-of-touch children. I loved that this season brought out more confidence (and more Moira wigs) in each actor for their character. I could tell that having more time to develop and continue their adventures in Schitt's Creek has created something beautiful in all of them. The Roses move in sync despite the chaos they always seem to be in. As I said, I got to reap every single reward, and I'm not complaining. As predicted, the Roses did not get to leave Schitt's Creek as they hoped for back in season one. (In fact, if we're going by minimal knowledge, then we have several more seasons to go before that might even happen!) What I loved most is that instead of becoming more depressed about their situation, the Roses have decided to adapt to their surroundings. I almost couldn't believe it, but the Roses becoming more involved in Schitt's Creek caused even more chaos than I could think possible. From David not understanding how tax write-offs work to Moira's sudden desire to be in local politics, this season was filled with wildly hilarious moments. If it already hasn't been noticed, this has become a top 3 favorite sitcom for me. It came out of nowhere, and I was not expecting to love it as much as I do. I can't help but wonder what I was doing or why I haven't found this little gem before now. If we keep going at this rate, I can't help but wonder if I'll leave this show without a mild obsession. We ended the show with the implication that the Roses are there to stay in Schitt's Creek... and they may be a little okay with that? I'm definitely curious to see what else they can get up to and where they go from here!
Who among us actually knows how to fold in the cheese?
