Time to break out the wine again, ladies. We have once again have a reason to break out the wine for Wine Night: Social Distancing Edition. (The gif below only shows my excitement and not what you should be doing right now.) Picking after that wild cliffhanger in season 1, Jen and Judy now have to come together to make sure their secrets and lies stay buried. Literally. It doesn't help when a new visitor in town causes the women to make some drastic decisions. Those decisions cause Detective Perez, still looking into Jen's husband's death and Judy in general, to be suspicious of them. There's more at stake this time, and the women are willing to do anything to keep it all together. Cliffhangers are not the easiest to bounce back from, but Dead to Me handled theirs quite well, in my opinion. Right off, we're back to large amounts of dark humor paired with the chaotic problems both Jen and Judy have. The series picked back up on the craziest scenarios possible that pushed them both to the brink of their self-control and pure luck. Of course, I loved every second of it. Like I said in my season one review, I loved the fact this show portrayed a non-traditional female friendship between two people who could not be more opposite. I loved that they kept this consistency of opposing personalities going. They really had to keep it together, and their friendship got deeper because of it. This season, based off the cliffhanger that I will not spoil, forced them to come back together and grow stronger despite some, uh, differences they had (if you can call them that!). Their friendship was always the North Star for this show - it is its central focus, and it did not stray from it. Both Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini vibe off each other effortlessly even when their characters are making such bad decisions, and we get to enjoy it as the viewer. Dark humor is hard to keep up with. Especially when you add even more characters to the mix who may or may not be able to step up to Jen and Judy's prowess on screen. Just when you think things have gotten resolved, just know that it's not over for them.
Guess we have to see what's up next for Jen and Judy for season 3!
