There is so much to unpack from here. The time is finally here – the last season of Anne with an E has been watched. Am I okay? No, but we're here to give a review, and y'all are gonna get it! The third and final season of Anne with an E follows Anne seemingly coming into her own. She knows she wants to be a teacher, or possibly a writer, but more importantly, she wants to know her family history. Marilla and Matthew have mixed feelings about her search for her identity. On top of her self-discovery journey, Anne is also preparing for her future by getting ready for college exams. Gilbert has met someone new, but his feelings for Anne might end the relationship before it gets started. Bash has to face a new reality after a tragedy hits Avonlea. With scandals and heartbreak everywhere, Anne and her peers have big decisions to make that can impact their futures forever. I have loved this Anne of Green Gables journey that I've taken so far. It's why knowing this is the last season ever of this adaptation makes watching it so bittersweet. I am glad I got to know these characters and their stories, but I cannot be happier that it ended the way I liked. This season saw a new-and-improved Anne this time around. She's 16, and she's ready to take on the world... or at least she thinks she is. Amybeth McNulty once again captures the spirit and the essence that makes up Anne. Her journey to discover her identity makes this season feel so moving. I remember thinking I knew who I really was when I was in high school, so I couldn't imagine being in Anne's position. Her emotional journey of self-discovery felt so personal to me because I feel like I'm still on that journey of finding myself. This made me love this new layer of Anne, a character I adore so much. The season really peaks with the Gilbert and Anne's storyline. Diverting away from the source material, Gilbert gets a new interest rather than Anne normally would. This caused a lot of chaos that I truly enjoyed. It gave a realistic feel that teen love is not a simple meet-cute that works out in the end (even though that part is nice). It pushed Anne and Gilbert together, but almost nearly pulled them apart all season long. Of course, it ended the way it should've, and as I said earlier, I could not be happier that it finally happened. Everything ended perfectly and like a dream. I have slowly come to terms I won't get a continuation of this series anymore. I would've loved to see Anne and Gilbert at college. However, I still loved how it ended. It was everything I could've wanted and more.
Dear Anne... thank you.
