This is the Clue movie this generation deserves. This is a movie I have been dying to see since it came out last year. I finally was able to see it on a moment I was free to squeeze it in. Knives Out are the classic whodunit where everyone is suspect in a murder. Famous novelist Harlan Thrombey is found dead after his birthday party. Detective Beniot Blanc has been anonymously hired to investigate what happened to Thrombey. Blanc has to interrogate Harlan's dysfunctional family and eccentric houseworkers. Somehow he has to sift through a web of tales, lies, and false leads... will he find out who killed Harlan Thrombey? This movie was incredible. In fact, I'm definitely curious as to why it was never nominated for more Oscars. It's that good, in my opinion. The dialogue concept is witty and hilarious, which is quality entertainment from beginning to end. I can't tell you the last time a movie left me in suspense and wondering where it would go next. I only wish I got to experience this movie in an actual theater rather than my laptop. A star-studded cast usually makes me wary of movies. They can be hit or miss depending on how it goes. Sometimes star power is not everything. Knives Out, however, is everything because of the star power. The actors played into their over-the-top eccentrics and stereotypes. The individual characters become human because of the star power and feel so human. Visually? This movie is also stunning. The cinematography has smooth cutaways, quirky background details, and delightful finding clues along the way. It may come off old-fashioned in its roots, but it's fresh and new to this day-and-age. I was so ecstatic to find out there is supposedly a sequel in the making with Daniel Craig coming back to play drawling detective Benoit Blanc. I can't wait to see what problem he'll solve next!
Marta deserves everything! I said what I said.
